SeniorNet
provides adults access to and education about computer technology and the
Internet to enhance their lives. It
is an international non-profit organization designed to teach adults the ways
of computer and the Internet. It is
a program for adults, taught by volunteers, in small classes at a speed and
language that adults can understand and follow. SeniorNet
would not exist without volunteers who dedicate countless hours helping others
learn to use computers and the Internet.
Kent SeniorNet
is going into its tenth year of serving the community with computer
classes. Volunteers teach in an
amiable atmosphere. Most of
the coach volunteers come from the student base and after completing a course
with Kent SeniorNet, they enthusiastically volunteer
to coach. From coaching they have
an opportunity to become an instructor. The volunteers comprise of IBM
retirees, retired teachers and other retired corporate personnel.
Kent SeniorNet’s
Mission is to provide adults access to computer technologies to enhance their
lives. Three sessions are scheduled
over the year, Spring, Fall and Winter. A course is usually from four to six
weeks, meeting once a week.
Our success is attributed to our
sponsor, The Kent Public Library, and to the exceptional group of volunteers
and students.
